Welcome to my digital portfolio.
Hi, I'm Henry Choi, a Master of Public Policy student at the University of Chicago, pursuing a certificate in Computational Social Science.
My research is driven by the dream of designing governance frameworks that foster sustained trust and civic inclusion in an AI-mediated world. Motivated by this vision, I explore NLP, machine learning, and causal inference to study how sociotechnical systems can become more transparent, accountable, and resilient. I am actively working on a climate data governance project with Prof. Raul Castro Fernandez in the Data Ecology initiative, exploring how dataflows can be governed to build greater transparency and trust.
Before UChicago, I worked in diplomatic operations and legislative offices in South Korea. There, I saw firsthand that governance failure often stemmed not from the absence of institutions, but from their failure to function—leaving key systems vulnerable to polarization and misinformation. These experiences led me to ask how data and computation can help institutions regain public legitimacy and better serve underheard communities.
As a researcher, I approach data and algorithms as instruments for strengthening epistemic trust, inclusive decision-making, and discursive integrity.
Thank you for visiting. Please feel free to explore my CV or reach out—I’d love to connect.
I graduated from Stony Brook University with a BA in Economics and lived in New York as an international student from South Korea. Experiencing cultural diversity there has been a central motivation in my personal and intellectual growth.
